I am a pastel artist, who, living on the Mornington Peninsula surrounded by water, find so much inspiration from painting the sea and surrounding landscape. However, my introduction and training into the world of painting was very different.

In the 1980s I felt very privileged to have been admitted as a student of the Tonal Realist School, under the tutelage of oil painter Grahame Moore.  This was an excellent basis for further study and development of my journey into the world of art.  After some years of painting mainly still life studies in this discipline, followed by many years of the interruptions of a growing family, my desire for a change from the restraints of Tonal Realism in oils led me to explore what I could do with watercolour.

I was attracted to the beautiful transparency (and the challenge) of watercolours and worked in this medium for several years - many of my numerous small pieces have been made into greeting cards.   During this phase of my painting career my husband and I moved to the Mornington Peninsula where, in 2008, I joined the Peninsula Plein-air Painters.  It was then that my journey into the world of Plein-air painting began and my love for painting the sea and the huge expanse of sky I see every day, developed.
